The Lord's Prayer

Introduction

A Paraphrase on the Lord's Prayer, in Scripture Expressions
The Lord’s prayer being intended not only for a form of prayer itself, but a rule of direction, a plan or model in little, by which we may frame our prayers; and the expressions being remarkably concise and yet vastly comprehensive, it will be of good use sometimes to lay it before us, and observing the method and order of it, to dilate upon the several passages and petitions of it, that we may use it the more intelligently; of which we shall only here give a specimen in the assistance we may have from some other Scriptures.
1.0 Our Father in heaven.

O Lord our God, doubtless you are our Father, though Abraham does not know us, and Israel does not acknowledge us; you, O LORD, are our Father, our Redeemer from of old is your name, Isaiah 63:16(ESV) and we will from this time call to you, “Our Father, you are the friend of our youth.” Jeremiah 3:4(ESV)

Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us? Malachi 2:10(ESV)You are the Father of our spirits, to whom we ought to be subject to and live. Hebrews 12:9(ESV)

You are the Father of lights, James 1:17(ESV) the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort: 2 Corinthians 1:3(ESV) the Everlasting Father, Isaiah 9:6(ESV) from whom and through whom and to whom are all things. Romans 11:36(ESV)

You are the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Ephesians 1:3(ESV) whose glory was that of the only Son from the Father, John 1:14(ESV) who is at your side: John 1:18(ESV) beside you, like a master workman, daily your delight and rejoicing before you always. Proverbs 8:30(ESV)

You are, in Christ, our Father and the Father of all believers, whom you have predestined for adoption as sons, Ephesians 1:5(ESV) and into whose hearts you have sent the Spirit of the Son, teaching them to cry, “Abba! Father!” Galatians 4:6(ESV) See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God! 1 John 3:1(ESV) That the Lord God Almighty should be a Father to us, and we should be sons and daughters to him; 2 Corinthians 6:18(ESV) and that to all who receive him, who believe in his name, you should give the right to become children of God, who are born, not of the will of man, but of God and his grace. John 1:12-13(ESV)

O that we may receive adoption as sons, Galatians 4:5(ESV) and that as obedient and genuine children we may be conformed to the example of him who has called us, who is holy; 1 Peter 1:14-15(ESV) and may we be imitators of God as beloved children, Ephesians 5:1(ESV) and conformed to the image of his Son, who is the firstborn among many brothers.

Our Father (continued)

Enable us to come to you with humble boldness and confidence, Ephesians 3:12(ESV) as to a Father, a tender Father, who spares us as a man spares his son who serves him; Malachi 3:17(ESV) and as having an Advocate with the Father, 1 John 2:1(ESV)  who yet has told us that the Father himself loves us. John 16:27(ESV)

You are a Father, but where is your honor? Malachi 1:6(ESV) Lord, give us grace to serve you as becomes children, with reverence and awe. Hebrews 12:28(ESV)

You are a Father, and if earthly parents, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to their children, how much more will our heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! Luke 11:13(ESV) Lord, give us the Spirit of grace and pleas for mercy. Zechariah 12:10(ESV)

We come to you as prodigal children who have gone from our Father’s house into a far country; Luke 15:13(ESV) but we will arise and go to our Father, for in his house there is more than enough bread, and if we continue at a distance from him, we perish with hunger. Father, we have sinned against heaven and before you and are no longer worthy to be called your children, treat us as your hired servants. Luke 15:17-19(ESV)

You are our Father in heaven, Matthew 6:9(ESV) and therefore to you, O Lord, do we lift up our souls. Psalm 86:4(ESV) To you we lift up our eyes, O you who are enthroned in the heavens! As the eyes of a servant look to the hand of his master, as the eyes of a maidservant to the hand of her mistress, so do our eyes look to you, O LORD our God; Psalm 123:1-2(ESV) a God whom heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain, 1 Kings 8:27(ESV) and yet whom we may have access to, having a High Priest who has passed through the heavens as our forerunner. Hebrews 4:14(ESV)

You, O God, dwell in the high and holy place, Isaiah 57:15(ESV) and holy and awesome is your name! Psalm 111:9(ESV) God is in heaven, and we are on earth; Ecclesiastes 5:2(ESV) therefore, we should carefully choose our words with him. Job 9:14(ESV) And yet, through a Mediator, we have confidence to enter the holy places. Hebrews 10:19(ESV)

Look down, we pray, from heaven and see, from your holy and beautiful habitation, Isaiah 63:15(ESV) and have compassion upon us and help us. Mark 9:22(ESV)

Heaven is your mighty expanse: Psalm 150:1(ESV) O answer us from your holy heaven, with the saving might of your right hand; Psalm 20:6(ESV)send us help from your sanctuary, and give us support from Zion! Psalm 20:2(ESV)

And, O that since heaven is our Father’s house, John 14:2(ESV) may we have our citizenship there, Philippians 3:20(ESV) and seek the things that are above. Colossians 3:1(ESV)

Hallowed be Your Name

2.0 Hallowed be your name.

And now, what is our wish? What is our request? Esther 5:6(ESV) What do we want you to do for us? Matthew 20:32(ESV) This is our heart’s desire and prayer in the first place: Romans 10:1(ESV) Father in heaven, let your name be sanctified. We pray that you may be glorified as a holy God. Leviticus 10:3(ESV)

We desire to exalt the LORD our God, to worship at his footstool, Psalm 99:5(ESV) at his holy mountain; to praise his great and awesome name, Psalm 99:3(ESV) for it is holy, for the LORD our God is holy. Psalm 99:9(ESV) You are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. Psalm 22:3(ESV)

We glory in your holy name (and therefore shall our hearts rejoice), Psalm 105:3(ESV) because we have trusted in your holy name, Psalm 33:21(ESV) to which we will always give thanks, and glory in your praise. Psalm 106:47(ESV)

Lord, enable us to glorify your holy name forever, by giving thanks to you with our whole heart, Psalm 86:12(ESV) and by bearing much fruit, for by this is our heavenly Father glorified. John 15:8(ESV) O that we might be for God a name, a praise, and a glory, Jeremiah 13:11(ESV) that being called out of darkness into his marvelous light to be to him a people for his own possession, we may proclaim the excellencies of him who has called us. 1 Peter 2:9(ESV)

O that we may be your children, the work of your hands, that we may sanctify your name and sanctify the Holy One of Jacob and stand in awe of the God of Israel; Isaiah 29:23(ESV) and that we may be to the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:12(ESV)

Enable us as we have received gifts, so to use them to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace – in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 4:10-11(ESV) And if we suffer, enable us to suffer as Christians and to glorify God in that name; 1 Peter 4:16(ESV) for this is our eager expectation and hope: that always Jesus Christ may be honored in our bodies, in life and death. Philippians 1:20(ESV)

Hallowed be Your Name (Continued)

Lord, enable others to glorify you, even strong peoples to glorify you and cities of ruthless nations to fear you; Isaiah 25:3(ESV) but especially let the LORD be magnified beyond the border of Israel. Malachi 1:5(ESV) Let them give glory to the LORD in the realm of light, even the LORD, the God of Israel, in the coastlands of the sea. Psalm 22:31(ESV)

Lord, may you yourself dispose of all things to your own glory, both as King of the nations, Jeremiah 10:7(ESV) and as King of the saints. O let your name be magnified forever, saying, ‘The Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, is Israel’s God.’ 1 Chronicles 17:24(ESV)

Your Kingdom Come

3.0 Your kingdom come.

In order to the sanctifying and glorifying of your holy name, Father in heaven, let your kingdom come; for yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. 1 Chronicles 29:11-12(ESV) And we desire to speak of the glory of your kingdom, Psalm 145:11(ESV) for it is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations. Psalm 145:13(ESV)

You rule by your might forever; your eyes keep watch on the nations. O let not the rebellious exalt themselves, Psalm 66:7(ESV) but through the greatness of your power let your enemies come cringing to you. Psalm 66:3(ESV)

O make it to appear that kingship belongs to you, and that you rule over the nations; Psalm 22:28(ESV) make it so evident that they may say among the nations, “The Lord reigns”; Psalm 96:10(ESV) that all mankind may fear and may tell what God has brought about, Psalm 64:9(ESV) and may say, “Surely there is a God who judges on earth.” Psalm 58:11(ESV) Make all the kings of the earth to know that Heaven rules, even that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will, Daniel 4:25-26(ESV) and to praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all your works are right and your ways are just, and those who walk in pride you are able to humble. Daniel 4:37(ESV)

O let the kingdom of your grace come more and more in the world, that kingdom of God which comes not with signs to be observed, that kingdom of God which is in the midst of men. Luke 17:20-21(ESV) Let it be like leaven in the world, diffusing its relish, till it is all leavened, and like a grain of mustard seed, which, though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it has grown, is the greatest among all the garden plants. Matthew 13:31-33(ESV)

Let the kingdom of the world become the kingdom of the Lord and of his Christ. Revelation 11:15(ESV) Take your great power and reign, though the nations rage. Revelation 11:17-18(ESV) Set up your throne where Satan’s throne is, Revelation 2:13(ESV) let every thought be taken captive to obey you, 2 Corinthians 10:5(ESV) and let the law of your kingdom be magnified and made glorious. Isaiah 42:21(ESV)

Let that kingdom of God, which does not consist in talk but in power, 1 Corinthians 4:20(ESV) be set up in all the churches of Christ. Send forth from Zion your mighty scepter and rule by the beauty of holiness.

Your Kingdom Come (continued)

Where the strong man, fully armed, has long guarded his palace, and his goods are safe, let Christ, who is stronger than he, attack him and take away his armor in which he trusted and divide the spoil. Luke 11:21-22(ESV)

O give to the Son of man dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages may serve him, Daniel 7:14(ESV)and the judgment may be given for the saints of the Most High. Daniel 7:22(ESV)

Let the kingdom of your grace come more and more in our land and the places where we live. There let the word of God speed ahead and be honored, 2 Thessalonians 3:1(ESV) and let not the kingdom of God be taken away from us, which is what we deserve, and given to a people producing its fruits. Matthew 21:43(ESV)

Let the kingdom of your grace come into our hearts, that they may be temples of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:19(ESV) Let no iniquity get dominion over us. Psalm 119:133(ESV) Ruin, ruin, ruin the power of corruption there, and let him come who has right to our hearts, and give them to him; Ezekiel 21:27(ESV) make us offer ourselves freely, more and more freely, on the day of your power. Psalm 110:3(ESV) Rule in us by the power of truth, that, being of the truth, we may always hear Christ’s voice, John 18:37(ESV) and may not only call him ‘Lord, Lord,’ but do what he tells us. Luke 6:46(ESV) And let the love of Christ command us and control us, 2 Corinthians 5:14(ESV) and the fear of him be before our eyes, that we may not sin. Exodus 20:20(ESV)

O let the kingdom of your glory be hastened; we believe it will come. We look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus, Philippians 3:20(ESV) to come on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Matthew 24:30(ESV) We hope that he shall appear to our joy; Isaiah 66:5(KJV) we love his appearing; we are waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God; 2 Peter 3:12(ESV) make us ready for it, Matthew 24:44(ESV) that we may then raise our heads with joy, knowing that our redemption is drawing near. Luke 21:28(ESV) And, O that we may have such firstfruits of the Spirit that we ourselves may groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies; Romans 8:23(ESV) and may we have a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is best of all. Philippians 1:23(ESV)

Blessed Jesus, be with your ministers and people as you have said, “Always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20(ESV) And then, as you have said, “Surely I am coming soon.” Come, Lord Jesus! Come quickly! Revelation 22:20(ESV) When the mystery of God shall be fulfilled, Revelation 10:7(ESV) make haste, our beloved, and be like a gazelle or a young stag on the mountains of spices.

Your Will be Done

4.0 Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

And as an evidence that your kingdom comes, and in order to the sanctifying of your name, Father in heaven, let your holy will be done. We know, O LORD, that whatever you please, that you do in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all deeps; Psalm 135:6(ESV) your counsel shall stand, and you will accomplish all your purpose: Isaiah 46:10(ESV) Even so let it be, Holy Father, not our will, but yours, be done. Luke 22:42(ESV) As you have planned, so let it be, and as you have purposed, so let it stand. Isaiah 14:24(ESV) Do all according to the counsel of your will. Ephesians 1:11(ESV) Make even those to serve your purposes who have not known you, and who do not so intend, nor do their hearts so think. Isaiah 10:7(ESV)

Father, let your will be done concerning us and ours: 1 Samuel 3:12(ESV)Behold, here we are; it is the LORD, let him do to us what seems good to him; 1 Samuel 3:18(ESV) let the will of the Lord be done. Acts 21:14(ESV) O give us to submit to your will in conformity to the example of the Lord Jesus who said, “Not as I will, but as you will”; Matthew 26:39(ESV)and to say, “The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. Job 1:21(ESV) Shall we receive good from the Lord, and shall we not receive evil also?” Job 2:10(ESV)

Father, let the Scriptures be fulfilled; the Scriptures of the prophets, Matthew 26:56(ESV) which cannot be broken. John 10:35(ESV) Though heaven and earth pass away, let not an iota, not a dot, of your word pass away. Matthew 5:18(ESV) Do what is written in the book of truth, Daniel 10:21(ESV) and let it appear that forever, O LORD, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens.

Your Will be Done (continued)

Lord, give grace to each of us to know and do the will of our Father in heaven. Matthew 12:50(ESV) This is the will of God, our sanctification. 1 Thessalonians 4:3(ESV) Now may the God of peace sanctify us completely. 1 Thessalonians 5:23(ESV) O let us be filled with the knowledge of your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, Colossians 1:9(ESV) and equip us with everything good that we may do your will. Hebrews 13:21(ESV) O let the time that is past suffice for doing what the flesh wants to do, 1 Peter 4:3(ESV) and to have walked according to the course of this world. Ephesians 2:2(ESV) And from henceforth, grant that it may always be our food and drink to do the will of our Father and to accomplish his work; John 4:34(ESV) not to do our own will but his who sent us, John 6:38(ESV) that we may be of those who will enter the kingdom of heaven, Matthew 7:21(ESV) and not those who will receive a severe beating. Luke 12:47(ESV)

Lord, give grace to others also to know and do your will; to discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect; Romans 12:2(ESV) not to be foolish, but to understand what the will of the Lord is; Ephesians 5:17(ESV) and then give them to stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God: Colossians 4:12(ESV) And let us all serve our generations according to that will. Acts 13:36(ESV)

And when we have done the will of God, let us receive what is promised; Hebrews 10:36(ESV) and let that part of the will of God be done. Lord, let the word that you have spoken concerning your servants be established forever, and do as you have spoken. 1 Chronicles 17:23(ESV)

We rejoice that your will is done in heaven; that the holy angels do your word and always obey the voice of your word; Psalm 103:20(ESV) that they always see the face of our Father. Matthew 18:10(ESV) And we lament that your will is so little done on earth, so many of the children of men being captured by Satan to do his will. 2 Timothy 2:26(ESV) O that this earth may be made more like heaven! And saints more like the holy angels! And that we who hope to be shortly like angels in heaven, Matthew 22:30(ESV) may now, like them, never cease from praising him; Revelation 4:8(ESV) may now, like them, resist and withstand Satan; Daniel 10:13(ESV) may be as a flaming fire, Psalm 104:4(ESV) in swift flight, Daniel 9:21(ESV) and may go straight forward, wherever the Spirit goes; Ezekiel 1:12(ESV) may serve for the good of others, Hebrews 1:14(ESV) and thus may come into communion with the innumerable angels in festal gathering. Hebrews 12:22(ESV)

Give us This Day our Daily Bread

5.0 Give us this day our daily bread.

You, O God, who have appointed us to seek first the kingdom of God and its righteousness, have promised that if we do so, other things will be added to us: Matthew 6:33(ESV) And therefore, having prayed for the sanctifying of your name, the coming of your kingdom, and the doing of your will, we next pray, Father in heaven, give us this day, and each day, our daily bread. Luke 11:3(ESV)

Remove far from us falsehood and lying; give us neither poverty nor riches; feed us with food that is needful for us, lest we be full and deny you, and say, “Who is the LORD?” or lest we be poor and steal and profane the name of our God. Proverbs 30:8-9(ESV)

Lord, we do not ask for delicacies, for they are deceptive food, Proverbs 23:3(ESV) nor do we pray that we may feast sumptuously every day, Luke 16:19(ESV) for we would not in our lifetime receive our good things; Luke 16:25(ESV) but we pray for that bread which is necessary to strengthen man’s heart. Psalm 104:15(ESV) We desire not to eat the bread of deceit, Proverbs 20:17(ESV) nor to drink any stolen water, Proverbs 9:17(ESV) nor would we eat the bread of idleness, Proverbs 31:27(ESV) but that if it be your will we may eat the fruit of the labor of our own hands, Psalm 128:2(ESV) that we may do our work quietly and eat our own bread; 2 Thessalonians 3:12(ESV) and having food and clothing, grant us to be content with these, 1 Timothy 6:8(ESV) and to say, “We have received full payment, and more.” Philippians 4:18(ESV)

Give us This Day our Daily Bread (continued)

Bless, O LORD, our substance and accept the work of our hands; Deuteronomy 33:11(ESV) and give us wherewithal to provide for our own, even for the members of our own household, 1 Timothy 5:8(ESV) and to leave an inheritance, as far as is just, to our children’s children. Proverbs 13:22(ESV)Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands! Psalm 90:17(ESV) Bless, Lord, our land with the best gifts of the earth and its fullness; but above all, let us have the favor of him who dwells in the bush, even the blessings that rested on the head of Joseph, on the pate of him who is prince among his brothers. Deuteronomy 33:16(ESV)

But if the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; if the produce of the olive should fail, and the fields yield no food; if the flock should be cut off from the fold, and there should be no herd in the stalls, yet let us have grace to rejoice in the LORD and to take joy in the God of our salvation. Habakkuk 3:17-18(ESV)

Father, we ask not for bread for a great while to come, but that we may have this day our daily bread; for we would learn (please, Lord, teach us) not to be anxious for tomorrow, what we shall eat, or what we shall drink, or what we shall wear, but we cast the care upon you, our heavenly Father, who knows that we need all these things; Matthew 6:31-32(ESV) who feeds the birds of the air, though they neither sow nor reap, and will much more feed us, Matthew 6:26(ESV) who are of more value than many sparrows. Matthew 10:31(ESV)

We do not pray for daily bread for ourselves only but for others also: O satisfy your poor with bread. Psalm 132:15(ESV) Let all who walk righteously and speak uprightly dwell on the heights: Let the place of their defense be the fortresses of rocks, let their bread be given them, and let their water be sure.

Forgive us our Debts

6.0 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

And, Lord, as duly as we pray every day for our daily bread, we pray for the forgiveness of our sins; for we are all held accountable to God, Romans 3:19(ESV) have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23(ESV) We all stumble in many ways every day. James 3:2(ESV)Who can tell how often he stumbles? Psalm 19:12(ESV) If you should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared. Psalm 130:3-4(ESV) God, be merciful to us sinners! Luke 18:13(ESV)

We have wasted our Lord’s possessions; Luke 16:1(ESV) we have buried the talents we were entrusted with. Matthew 25:18(ESV) We have not made return according to the benefit done to us; 2 Chronicles 32:25(ESV) and thus, we have come to be in debt. The Scripture has concluded us all under sin; Galatians 3:22(KJV) we have practiced such things as deserve death, Romans 1:32(ESV) things for which the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Ephesians 5:6(ESV) Our debt is more than ten thousand talents; it is a great debt, and we cannot pay. So far are we from being able to say, “Have patience with us, and we will pay everything.” Matthew 18:24-26(ESV) Justly therefore might our accuser hand us over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, to be put in prison, the prison of hell, until we should pay the last penny. Matthew 5:25-26(ESV)

But blessed be God, there is a way found out of agreeing with our accuser; for if anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous, and he is the propitiation for our sins. 1 John 2:1-2(ESV) For his sake, we entreat you, blot out all our transgressions, Psalm 51:1(ESV) and enter not into judgment with us. Psalm 143:2(ESV) He is our Guarantor, Hebrews 7:22(ESV) who restored what he did not steal, Psalm 69:4(ESV)that blessed Arbiter, who has laid his hand on us both. Job 9:33(ESV)Through him let us be reconciled to God, 2 Corinthians 5:20(ESV) and let the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands be cancelled and set aside, being nailed to the cross of Christ, that we may be made alive together with Christ, having all our trespasses forgiven us. Colossians 2:13-14(ESV) Be merciful toward our iniquities, and remember our sins no more.

Forgive us our Debts (continued)

And give us, we beg you, to receive reconciliation; Romans 5:11(ESV) to know that our sins are forgiven us. 1 John 2:12(ESV) Speak peace to us, Psalm 85:8(ESV)and let us hear joy and gladness. Psalm 51:8(ESV) Let the blood of Jesus your Son cleanse us from all sin, 1 John 1:7(ESV) and purify our consciences from dead works to serve the living God. Hebrews 9:14(ESV)

And as an evidence that you have forgiven our sins, we plead with you, give us grace to forgive our enemies, to love those who hate us and bless those who curse us; Matthew 5:44(KJV) for we acknowledge that if we do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will our Father forgive our trespasses. Matthew 6:15(ESV) And therefore we forgive, Lord; we desire heartily to forgive, if we have a complaint against another, as the Lord has forgiven us. Colossians 3:13(ESV) Far be it from us to say that we will repay evil, Proverbs 20:22(ESV) or that we should avenge ourselves; Romans 12:19(ESV) but we pray that all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander may be put away from us, along with all malice; and that we may be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave us. Ephesians 4:31-32(ESV) O make us merciful, even as our Father who is in heaven is merciful, Luke 6:36(ESV) who has promised that with the merciful he shows himself merciful.

Lead us Not into Temptation

7.0 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

And, Lord, forasmuch as there is in us a bent to turn away from you, Hosea 11:7(ESV) so that when our sins are forgiven, we are ready to turn back to folly, Psalm 85:8(ESV) we pray that you will not only forgive us our debts but take care of us, that we may not offend anymore. Job 34:32(ESV) Lord, lead us not into temptation. We know that no one can say when he is tempted that he is being tempted by God, for God himself tempts no one; James 1:13(ESV) but we know that God is able to make all grace abound to us, 2 Corinthians 9:8(ESV) and to keep us from stumbling and present us blameless. Jude 1:24(ESV) We therefore pray that you will never give us over to our own stubborn hearts, to follow our own counsels, Psalm 81:12(ESV) but restrain Satan, that roaring lion who goes about seeking someone to devour; 1 Peter 5:8(ESV)and grant that we may not be ignorant of his designs. 2 Corinthians 2:11(ESV) O let not Satan have us, to sift us like wheat; or however, let our faith not fail. Luke 22:31-32(ESV) Let not the messengers of Satan be permitted to harass us; 2 Corinthians 12:7(ESV) but if they do, let your grace be sufficient for us, that where we are weak, there we may be strong, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10(ESV) and may be more than conquerors through him who loved us. Romans 8:37(ESV)And the God of peace crush Satan under our feet, and do it shortly. Romans 16:20(ESV) And since we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against rulers and authorities and the cosmic powers over this present darkness, Ephesians 6:12(ESV) let us be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Ephesians 6:10(ESV)

Lord, grant that we may never enter into temptation, Matthew 26:41(ESV) but having prayed, may we set a guard; Nehemiah 4:9(ESV) and let your wise and good providence so order all our affairs and all events that concern us, that no temptation may overtake us that is not common to man, and that we may never be tempted beyond our ability to discern, resist, and overcome through the grace of God. 1 Corinthians 10:13(ESV) Lord, do not lay any stumbling block before us, so that we should stumble and perish. Jeremiah 6:21(ESV) Let nothing be a hindrance in our way, Romans 14:13(ESV) but give us that great peace which they have who love your law, for nothing can make them stumble. Psalm 119:165(ESV)

Lead us Not into Temptation (continued)

And lead us, we entreat you, into all the truth; John 16:13(ESV) lead us in your truth and teach us, for you are the God of our salvation. Make us to know your ways, O God, and teach us your paths, Psalm 25:4-5(ESV) the paths of righteousness; O lead us in those paths for your name’s sake, so that we may be led beside still waters. Psalm 23:2-3(ESV)

And deliver us, we plead with you, from the evil one; protect us, that the evil one does not touch us, 1 John 5:18(ESV) that he does not sow his weeds in the field of our hearts, Matthew 13:25(ESV) that we will not be ensnared by his schemes, Ephesians 6:11(ESV) or wounded by his flaming darts; Ephesians 6:16(ESV) let the word of God abide in us, that we may be strong and may overcome the evil one. 1 John 2:14(ESV)

Deliver us from every evil thing, we pray, that we may do no wrong: 2 Corinthians 13:7(ESV) O rescue us from every evil deed; 2 Timothy 4:18(ESV) save us from our sins; Matthew 1:21(ESV) redeem us from all lawlessness, Titus 2:14(ESV) especially the sin which clings so closely. Hebrews 12:1(ESV) Conceal pride from us; Job 33:17(ESV) put false ways far from us: Psalm 119:29(ESV) Let us not eat of sinners’ delicacies; Psalm 141:4(ESV) incline our hearts to your testimonies, and not to selfish gain; Psalm 119:36(ESV) and keep us from speaking rashly with our lips: Psalm 106:33(ESV) But especially keep back your servants from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over us! Psalm 19:13(ESV)

Preserve us, we beg you, that no evil thing may be allowed to befall us; Psalm 91:10(ESV) and keep us from evil, that it may not hurt us. Psalm 121:7(ESV)O Savior of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at your right hand, wondrously show us your steadfast love, and keep us as the apple of your eye; hide us in the shadow of your wings. Psalm 17:7-8(ESV) Guard what has been entrusted to you. 2 Timothy 1:12(ESV) You who have delivered, please deliver; and, we hope and pray, that you will deliver us again, 2 Corinthians 1:10(ESV) will deliver us from all our fears. Psalm 34:4(ESV) O make us to dwell secure and grant that we may be at ease, without dread of disaster. Proverbs 1:33(ESV) And bring us safe at last to your holy mountain, where there is no more a briar to prick or a thorn to hurt, Ezekiel 28:24(ESV) nothing to hurt or destroy. Isaiah 11:9(ESV)
